Recipe of the Week: Pasta with Sausage and Peppers!

Bow Tie Pasta with Sausage and Sweet Peppers

This is an easy dinner the whole family will love! 

A good trick for getting a picky toddler to eat his colorful peppers is to play a game!

 Get him to eat all of the red ones in a certain amount of time and give him a treat every time he wins, continue with all of the veggies until they are all gone! A lot of the times kids just need positive reinforcement.

Ingredients:

1 pound Italian sausage, cut into 1/2 inch pieces

2 green bell peppers, chopped

8 ounces farfalle pasta

1/2 cup beef broth

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

 

 

 Directions:

 

 Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain. 
While pasta is cooking, cook sausage and peppers in large skillet over medium heat until sausage is brown and juices run clear. Drain sausage mixture and return it to the pan. Pour in the broth, season with black pepper and bring to a boil.

Toss pasta with sausage sauce and serve.

 

How Students REALLY Feel About Group Presentations

 

For the love of GOD, if you are a professor and you are reading this, please please please please please STOP giving your students group projects. PLEASE!

Okay, maybe that is a little unreasonable. But it seems like for the past 4 years I have been forced to work with irresponsible and selfish people who either leave everything for the last minute, or who skip out on their part of the project only to leave me to finish all of the work. The funny thing, is that most professors do not care, and insist on making it a group grade anyway. 

First of all, if you are professor know this, WE PREFER TESTS!!!!! 

I understand that you get tired of lecturing the class. Sometimes you want to just sit back and watch a nice presentation, but it is NOT our job to teach our fellow classmates. Nor do they care about what one another has to say. They only care about their grade and how they are going to do when they stand up to present. If they are paying attention, 9 times out of 10 its due to common courtesy.

Now, because teachers and professors are probably NEVER going to stop with this, no matter how much we INSIST that we hate it, if you are in a group to do a presentation or project,  BE CONSIDERATE! 

Do not procrastinate of the your portion of the work. Why? Because, something could go wrong, you won't have time to fix it, and someone will have to fix it for you because they don't want you to drag their grade down. Do what you have to do, as soon as possible. We all are busy, we all have priorities and things that we need to get done. That being said, respect the time of your group members. It is not fair to thrust your responsibilities on someone who has responsibilities of their own.

When you leave your group hanging, they get stressed, overwhelmed, frustrated and angry. Which is completely understandable. We ALL know how hard it is because we are ALL going through it. Let's work TOGETHER, instead of for ourselves. 

People are counting on you.  

DO NOT LET THEM DOWN! 

Saturday Night In: The Rugrats in Paris

I bet a lot of you remember the days when you had this movie on an orange VHS tape! I know I do!

For a very long time I was afraid that like most good old cartoons, this would be lost to the next generation, who would unfortunately miss out on a time when the shows that were meant for kids taught us valuable life lessons. 

All I can say now is, thank God for Netflix! We are finally starting to get some of those shows and movies back, and I am prepared to take FULL advantage of it! 

That being said, I give this movie 5 stars, and I highly recommend it to Kul Moms everywhere!!! 

Kids of all ages will love this fast paced adventure as they follow the babies through Reptarland in search of the perfect mommy, while you get to enjoy those jokes that flew right over your head when you were their age! 

The only warning I have is that the main conflict of this movie is a motherless child. 

Everyone has a different situation, and so those children who don't get to see mommy as much (or at all) may feel a little bit left out by the end of the movie. Also, there are some curious little ones out there who might ask you why Chucky is so sad (especially during that depressing airplane scene that always gives me the feels). Be prepared to explain that, and make sure they understand the emotions of grief and loneliness, then make sure they understand that it all gets resolved in the end. 

Overall, this is a fantastic movie to watch on a Saturday night in, that will please the inner kid in all of us!
